Pastors Mentored By Bishop Earl Paulk Allegedly Carried The Torch of Scandal [Part 2]

Bishop Earl Paulk and Bishop Eddie Long
Why is it that Eddie Long's ministry has been riddled with such scandal, deceit and corruption? Why has yet another pastor with a relationship with the late Bishop Earl Paulk find himself  falling down the slippery slope of dome? We have to remember: Bishop Long was not just a predator of young boys and teens but he was also a deceiver of his flock through financial schemes. There's no doubt that Bishop Earl Paulk was a corruptible image and example for Bishop Eddie Long. The teachings of Earl Paulk and we believe the spirit of perversion that was upon him, gave way to more pastors to be sucked into this evil spirit.

Florida Pastor and Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Sexual Battery on Young Boy
Another pastor and man of God, slivering down the slippery slope of sexual sin against young boys. God is opening up the tightly closed lid on these ungodly pastors behind the pulpit. While churchgoers are attending services, unbeknownst to them, they have been entertained by a registered sex offender who is still abusing young children. By the way, we as Christians should be able to discern a person even by his appearance. We have said it before and will say it again: Who would follow a man that looks like that? His appearance alone should have folks running out of that church. The spirit of this man, which apparently was not a good one, is all over his countenance. Sorry but we had to say it.

Pastor Tyrone Gordon Sued By UMC Church And Sex Abuse Accusers, Call For Protective Orders

Report from Courthouse News:

A regional body of the United Methodist Church has called for protective orders in sexual misconduct lawsuits against an allegedly abusive pastor.

Jeffrey Carson, a former church member at St. Luke Community United Methodist Church in Dallas, filed suit eight months ago against St. Luke's, the North Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and former pastor Tyrone Gordon in county court.

Last month, former St. Luke's employees Anthony Bollin and Christopher Mosley filed similar, separate suits in county court.
All three men allege that Gordon engaged in sexual misconduct and harassment against male employees and parishioners at the church.
The conference filed three motions for protective orders last week, arguing that the claims exceeded the statute of limitations and that the plaintiffs failed to exhaust administrative remedies afforded by the federal Equal Employment & Opportunity Commission and Texas Workforce Commission.
Judge Martin Lowy is considering both of these arguments in a fourth lawsuit against the defendants filed in January by Cameron Greer, the conference says.
"The 101st Judicial District Court's ruling on the conference's dispotive motions in the Greer case will dictate the issues involved in this lawsuit, including the necessity and extent of discovery," the motions state. "Moving forward with discovery in this lawsuit prior to the court's ruling in Greer will waste valuable time, money and resources for all parties involved."
In his complaint, Moseley accuses Gordon of trying to get him drunk during a church trip to New Orleans in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina. He says Gordon made unwanted sexual advances at their hotel during a conversation about Mosley finding a full-time job.
"Defendant Gordon proceeded to show pornographic pictures on his church[-]issued laptop," the complaint states. "At the same time, [defendant] Gordon began rubbing his bare legs against plaintiff Mosley saying what defendant Gordon could do for plaintiff Mosley."
It adds: "Defendant Gordon referred to the pornographic photos saying 'I bet you didn't know your pastor could get down like this.' Defendant Gordon then began to ask plaintiff Mosley what kind of things plaintiff Mosley did when plaintiff Mosley was locked up in the penitentiary."
Mosley allegedly stopped attending worship services after the incident. He said his spirituality and faith have been "permanently damaged" by the abuse.
"Plaintiff Mosley was hurt and angry that this abuse was perpetrated by his senior pastor and secular-based counselor," the complaint states. "There does not seem to be much of a difference in what he experienced in the world and what he experienced in the church."
The motions in the Carson and Bollin cases were authored by Littler Mendelson attorney Michelle Brookshire. The motion in the Mosley suit was authored by Thompson Coe attorney Jennifer Aufricht.

Kansas Serial Predator Priest Dies Unexpectedly

Clergy sex abuse victims are blasting Kansas City’s controversial Bishop Robert Finn for “staying silent” about the recent death of an alleged predator priest who has been sued several times for molesting kids. Leaders of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, says Finn should have “honored his pledge to be ‘open’ about clergy sex crimes” by notifying the public and his parishioners about Fr. John R. Tulipana, who apparently died last week.

SFs Bethel AME Will Fight to Keep New Pastor Out of Church

Bethel AME Church of San Francisco

Though members of San Francisco's oldest black church, Bethel AME have been engaged in an unprecedented effort to oust their new pastor, there's no mechanism to address their demand. The Rev. John J. Hunter was recently transferred from the First AME Church in Los Angeles to lead the San Francisco church.  That action was taken by Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, which is standard procedure in the denomination.

Florida Church Pastor Under Fire for Attacking Members for Talking While He Was Preached

Florida Church Pastor Under Fire for Attacking Members for Talking While He Was Preached

Bethlehem Progressive Baptist Church in Brooksville is 151 years old  and a prominent part of its community.

But something has gone wrong since their longtime pastor Rev. Louis Edrington McGhee passed away. The choir has dwindled and the new pastor seems to have some real anger management issues.

News reports state:
On Sept. 2, the Rev. Cecill Hubbert grew enraged as Brooks, 81 (from the choir), and another member of the congregation carried on a conversation as Hubbert was preaching — though several members said Hubbert was mostly just talking about the need for more donations.
Hubbert first asked Brooks to be quiet, said member Lorraine Stockley.
"Then he rushed off that pulpit and he said, 'Shut up! Shut up! I said shut up!' And he went to the back of the church and he said, 'When I say shut up, I mean shut up,' " Stockley said.
Hubbert reached around another elderly church member, Eddie Warren, and grabbed Brooks, "and we all went down in a pile," Brooks said.
"Everybody was shocked. I was screaming," Stockley said. "I was like, 'What the hell is going on? This is a church.' "
Though no one was hurt, Brooks he has since been hospitalized twice with heart problems.

Willie Brooks, 81, says he was attacked by the pastor of the Bethlehem Progressive Baptist Church during a service.
(Willie Brooks, 81, attacked by pastor)

Brooks and Warren reported the attack to the police, but they both signed documents stating they didn't want to press criminal charges.

A prosecutor told Brooks that because of the signed affidavit, the matter would be impossible to prosecute. This is after he changed is mind about pressing charges.

Many of the members say Hubbert caused the incident and has not done enough to ask the congregation for it's forgiveness. In fact, he has never apologized to Brooks.

Church member Stockley said the pastor does not call meetings because he like to run the church his way and this is why he spends time on Sundays talking about money. This is mostly because membership has been declining, even before the incident.
Brooks said he wasn't interested in hearing an apology from Hubbert at this point. It's too late, he said, and he won't come back to the church "until this whole mess is straightened out."
Though many of the members are waiting for an apology from the pastor, they also want him to run the church better. As they wait, they say it should be addressed soon because tomorrow is not promised. We agree. The pastor should apologize and he shouldn't be so concerned with raising money until he gets the trust and respect from the church back.

Former Youth Minister Samuel Lee Lyte Indicted on Sexual Abuse Charges [UPDATE]

A grand jury hands down charges against a former youth minister accused of sexually abusing a child.

Seventy-year-old, Samuel Lee Lyte was indicted last week on several child sex charges and tampering with evidence.

Lyte was arrested last month.

The pastor of Mt. Bethel Church confirms Lyte met the alleged victim after he was hired by the church in 2010.

He tells the Big Spring Herald he released Lyte from his position after the victim's father approached him with a letter written by his daughter, meant for Lyte.
“The letter was not of a sexual nature, but it was inappropriate. That's when I released him from the position of youth minister,” Vaughn said. “In the letter, the girl referred to Lyte as the 'king on her throne.' I asked him (Lyte) not to attend the church, but there's really no way to bar someone, " says the pastor.

Former NC Pastor Clinton Alexander Feemster 2nd Arrest on Soliciting Sex From Males

Former NC Pastor Clinton Alexander Feemster 2nd Arrest on Soliciting Sex From Males

This former pastor Clinton Alexander Feemster worked at Gardner Webb University beginning in 2004, but he resigned shortly after allegations of sexual solicitation surfaced last year. Feemster retired from Mount Zion Baptist Church in August 2011.

As a former Kings Mountain pastor and religion professor, Feemster has been arrested on allegations that he tried to solicit sex from an uncover police officer for the second time in two years.

Clinton Alexander Feemster, 60, of Gastonia is facing charges of soliciting a crime against nature after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say he asked an undercover male officer for sex Oct. 26 at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport overlook.

According to a warrant affidavit, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer E. Roman and four detectives went to the airport overlook for a sting operation. The overlook is known as a “meeting place for males interested in engaging in illegal public sexual acts,” according to the affidavit.

Here's how the scenario went as Feemster boldly solicited a male stranger for sex:
The overlook parking lot contained about a dozen cars. Families with children watched the planes land and take off from the runway. A steady flow of vehicles arrived and left the overlook around 3 p.m. when an undercover officer was approached.
Roman sat in his vehicle for about five minutes before a white Ford Ranger pickup pulled up on the driver side, according to the warrant.
Clinton Alexander Feemster
Feemster asked the undercover officer to talk with him at the picnic tables on the overlook grounds. Feemster offered to engage in a sex act with Officer Roman in a public location, according to the affidavit.
Feemster agreed to follow the officer to another location. He was not arrested at the overlook because Feemster left the area before a marked police car could stop him.
Later, Feemster was issued a warrant for his arrest and then arrested on last week on Wednesday.
As reported, this isn’t the first time Feemster has been accused of soliciting a male police officer for sex. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said that Feemster asked an officer for oral sex in February 2011. At that time, a judge found him not guilty of soliciting sex. Plus, supporters rallied around the former pastor when he was accused.
Feemster was the pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and director of the Pittman Center for Congregational Enrichment at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs. The church and university both placed Feemster on leave after he was arrested. He had worked at Gardner-Webb since 2004, but resigned shortly after the allegations surfaced. Feemster retired from Mount Zion Baptist Church in August 2011. He’d been at the church for around 20 years.
Feemster is scheduled to appear in Mecklenburg County District Court Nov. 27 for the solicitation charge.

Atlanta's Pastor Arthur Allen and House of Prayer Church is Under Investigation, Again

Pastor Arthur Allen, House of Prayer Under investigation again

Atlanta's Pastor Arthur Allen and House of Prayer Church is Under Investigation, Again

It was in March 2001, when dozens of children were rescued after allegations of abuse at the House of Prayer led by Pastor Arthur Allen. Some of those children are now adults and they're speaking out about their experience for the very first time.

Now, news reports have learned the Atlanta Police Department has a launched a new investigation into the church.

Here's what many of the members of abuse had to say:
"Imagine for years being tortured by snakes," said Naomi Smith-Howard.
"I wanted to commit suicide," said Tenishia Smith.
"They hiss at you and then pick at you."
"A church is a place where you go to worship God," said James Smith, Jr. "It is not a place where you are demeaned and degraded."
Once members of the infamous 'House of Prayer,' these siblings, Tenishia, Naomi and James Jr., said they are still feeling the effects, more than a decade later, of what they call "years of abuse."

The House of Prayer church made national headlines back in 2001 when its Pastor Arthur Allen and four other members were arrested and charged with cruelty to children for the beating of two young boys.
Pastor Allen and one of the church members were convicted. Pastor Allen even served two years in prison.
There were 41 children removed by the State of Georgia, including Teniesha and James. The brother and sisters attended the church under the orders of their parents.
"At the time when we were taken away, we were too scared to say anything," said James Jr.
According to his sister Teniesha, "We was children when it happened and being children, we were taught that if we say anything, we go against them, we go to hell."
"They hold you up in the air. It's two men on the arm, two on the leg and someone is just standing over you beating you with a belt and if that belt broke, it was another belt," said Tenishia.

Adams County Church Pastor Confesses To Embezzlement of $400K from Church

Report from WGAL:
A suspended priest was formally charged on Thursday with taking thousands of dollars from his Adams County church.
The Rev. Caesar Belchez, the former pastor at St. Joseph the Worker parish in Bonneville, is accused of embezzling nearly $400,000 dollars over five years.
Court documents show the priest has confessed.
Belchez, who has most recently worked as a pastor in Dallastown, could face up to 21 years in prison.
Adams County District Attorney Shawn Wagner called it the largest embezzlement case his office has ever prosecuted.
The amount Belchez is accused of taking is in excess of $384,000.
Authorities said he used church money for his own use.
Belchez showed up for his court arraignment this morning wearing civilian clothes. He was released on $50,000 unsecured bail. He was scheduled to be fingerprinted after his appearance.
The Diocese of Harrisburg suspended the priest, who most recently was serving for the Dallastown church.
A Diocese spokesperson said Belchez is not allowed to take confessions or perform any sacraments.

Penn State Officials Face The “Conspiracy of Silence” case, says Report

Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal and Top Officials on Trial

Penn State Officials Face The “Conspiracy of Silence” case, says Report

Two Penn State administrators, Gary Schultz and Tim Curley were arraigned on last Friday on new accusations they kept quiet child sexual abuse allegations against former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

The two had a hearing on charges of:
  1. endangering the welfare of children
  2. obstruction
  3. and conspiracy.
Their bail is set to $50,000 each.

Schultz's attorney Tom Farrell talked of the positive things the men have accomplished, along with their co-defendant, former Penn State president Graham Spanier.
"People of this character do not do, have not done what they're charged with," Farrell said.
President Graham Spanier will be arraigned this week on Wednesday.
The three men were accused in a withering 39-page grand jury report that was made public Thursday of conspiring to conceal complaints about Sandusky, which gave him time and access to molest more boys before his arrest nearly a year ago.
Prosecutors alleged the men decided not to alert police or child welfare authorities after getting a 2001 report of Sandusky sexually abusing a boy in a team shower.
Of course, the Attorney General Linda Kelly said at a news conference Thursday that all three "knowingly testified falsely and failed to provide important information and evidence."
Spanier is charged with:
  1. perjury
  2. obstruction
  3. endangering the welfare of children
  4. failure to properly report suspected abuse
  5. and conspiracy.
Also, The LA Times reported this fact:
By shutting down any chance of an investigation into Jerry Sandusky's inappropriate contact with a boy on the Penn State campus, Spanier cleared a path for Sandusky to keep using his university ties to sexually abuse children.
This is oh so true and despicable. It's was a 'conspiracy of silence'.

Curley, 58, athletic director and Schultz, retired vice president for business and finance, were first charged a year ago, with perjury and failure to report abuse. Trial on those counts is scheduled for January.
Spanier's lawyers asserted his innocence and described the new charges as an attempt by Gov. Tom Corbett to divert attention from the three-year Sandusky investigation that began under his watch as attorney general.
The university's then-chief counsel Cynthia Baldwin came to accompany them during grand jury appearances and testify against the men.
"We were stunned, we were flabbergasted that she would testify against our clients," said Curley's lawyer, Caroline Roberto.
Schultz's attorney Farrell said Baldwin, a former state Supreme Court justice, "has betrayed her clients, her profession and testified falsely."
Baldwin's lawyer Charles De Monaco referred a reporter to a statement issued this summer in which he defended her, saying she "at all times fulfilled her obligations to the university and its agents."
Spanier, 64, of State College, had been university president for 16 years when he was forced out after Sandusky's November 2011 arrest. He remains a faculty member but was placed on paid leave Thursday.

This story and the convictions are very far from being over. All that had knowledge and aided in the sexual abuse cover up at Penn State will pay dearly and there will be no way out of it!!

Florida Pastor on Trial in Child Sex Trafficking Case

Florida Pastor on Trial in Child Sex Trafficking Case

Report from News Journal Online:
Opening statements followed by closed-door testimony began Tuesday morning in the trial of an Ormond Beach pastor who federal prosecutors called a serial sexual predator who molested children in a case described as child sex trafficking.
The defense for Luis E. Morales said the allegations are “outlandish” claims of children with no physical evidence or witnesses to back them up.
Morales, 58, sat quietly as Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Gable laid out the prosecution's case claiming he used his position as the self-proclaimed "apostle" of the En Fuego For Jesus ministry to fondle four girls between the ages of 10 and 14, and rape one of them.
Gable said Morales taught the victims that to become “ordained prophets” in the church they had to accept this abuse.
“He exploited their faith and their vulnerabilities as children,” Gable told the 12 jurors.
In a federal indictment issued in May, Morales is charged with five counts of transporting children for the purpose of sexual activity. His co-defendant in the case, Rebeca Rivera, 27, of Connecticut, is similarly charged in two of those counts.
Prosecutors believe in 2009 Morales took a girl from Florida to Connecticut and during that trip molested her on several occasions, including in the back of his minivan as the girl's uncle was driving it down the road. Then in December 2010 he brought another girl from Arizona to Florida for the same purpose. That girl also traveled with Morales to the U.S. Virgin Islands. During that trip she claims he molested her on the airplane, Gable said.
Defense counsel Kenneth Weaver countered saying there was no physical or DNA evidence or even adult witnesses that these events even took place.
“This is very, very hard to believe,” Morales' attorney said. “It is based on children's reports and that is it.”

Our Weekly reported recently that the AME church has made frequent reassignments of their pastors who have been involved or exposed in sexual misconduct within the organization. We have seen this happen within other denominational church organizations but Our Weekly happens to pinpoint a patten of moving their clergy around when there just happens to be controversy that follows their name....

Christian School Fires Teacher for Reporting Sexual Abuse by Pastor

pastor jonathon gray resigns amidst sexual abuse case

Christian School Fires Teacher for Reporting Sexual Abuse by Pastor

A Christian school fifth grade teacher was fired after she complained that the school's pastor forced her to have sex with him in the back seat of his car, her complaint states.

The woman, remaining nameless, has sued Christ Chapel Assemblies of God and its former pastor Jonathan Gray, in Federal Court.

She claims Pastor Gray used his position to force her into having a non-consensual sexual relationship with him and the church fired her for reporting him.

She claims that soon after Gray began counseling her for problems with her husband, he made unwanted advances to her and touched and kissed her. He also visited her classroom frequently.
"Mr. Gray would insist on spending her entire lunch time with her in her classroom, even telling her friends to leave the room and keeping students from being able to visit (her) during lunch," according to the complaint. "Mr. Gray made (her) more and more dependent on him and his counseling and started isolating her from her other friends."
The teacher claims the pastor's advances became more and more demanding and she could not stop him:
"On October 25, 2010, Mr. Gray persuaded (her) to meet him to continue pastoral counseling in a location near Christ Chapel. When she got there, Mr. Gray had sex with her in the back of his car. Mr. Gray was aware of how vulnerable and confused (she) was," the complaint states.
Once teacher and her husband reported the abuse to Christ Chapel officials, they suspended her without pay and stopped them from participating in church activities. The church also reneged on their promise to pay her during the suspension and for counseling.
"Christ Chapel has a history of allowing male church employees who have sexually abused female employees to remain working at Christ Chapel," the complaint states.
"Christ Chapel also has a history of disparate treatment of the victims and the perpetrators of sexual abuse at the church, giving additional authority to employees who sexually abused women and terminating and attempting to silence women who have been sexually abused, such as (the plaintiff)."
According to the victim, the pastor and his wife continued at the church.
She told the pastor she may be pregnant and told her that he was unable to have children because he had a vasectomy.
Ultimately the teacher became pregnant and then says Christ Chapel eventually forced Gray to resign, but allowed him to remain involved in church programs. She claims that the church released her name in its announcement, causing many Christ Chapel members to stop speaking to her.
The abused teacher is seeking damages and
  • punitive damages for physical and emotional injuries
  • loss of earnings
  • wrongful termination
  • hostile work environment
  • retaliation
  • and battery.

Many of Hunter's critics were elated by the change. They complained that he was:

Tulsa Church Youth Ministers Refuse to Take Accountability to Church Rape

Prosecutors say the Victory Christian Center employees who are accused of failing to report allegations of sex crimes against children for more than two weeks, had a legal obligation to do so.

They say any argument to the contrary "flies in the face of both common sense and common decency."
Assistant District Attorney Sarah Mc-Amis responded on Wednesday to a motion to dismiss the misdemeanor charges against John and Charica Daugherty, both youth ministers at Victory Christian Center.
The Daughertys contend in the motion that they were not required to report the allegation because Denman and Castillo were not "responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the child" - a provision of the child-abuse reporting law.

We found an interesting article that lays out some of the reassignments done within the AME church. Our Weekly reported recently that the AME church has made frequent reassignments of their pastors who have been involved or exposed in sexual misconduct and 'money issues' within the organization. We have seen this happen within other denominational church organizations but Our Weekly happens to pinpoint a patten of moving their clergy around when there just happens to be controversy that follows their name.

Here's what they found:
  • Pastor Frederick Murph of Brookins Community A.M.E. Church had been accused of encumbering church properties for more than $6 million. The Rev. C. Dennis Williams was reassigned to Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church in St. Louis, Mo. He had presided at Brookins for less than two years before his reassignment.
  • The new pastor at Brookins is Gregory McCloud from St. Louis. Williams had taken over at Brookins after Murph. Before that, Williams had taken over at Ward A.M.E. Church from the Rev. Sylvester Laudermill Jr., who was accused of molesting boys, first at St. Peter’s A.M.E. Church in St. Louis, then at Ward.
  • Another reassignment was for Pastor Joseph Nixon at Ward A.M.E. Church. He was sent to Allen A.M.E. Church in St. Louis. He is being replaced by the Rev. Taurus Myhand from Grant A.M.E. Church in Long Beach.
We hope your head is not spinning from all of the switches that went on within the AME church, says report from Our Weekly. They say the A.M.E. Fifth District presiding prelate, Bishop T. Larry Kirkland Sr., explains the reassignments.

Kirkland says the Methodist church is made up of an itinerant (traveling) ministry:
“Once they take their vows, which we do each year, you go where you are sent. I was assigned [as bishop] to the Fifth District. I’ve served four years [as head of the district]. I have a lot of rebuilding of the walls to do,” he said, referencing the book of Nehemiah. “My whole program was to restructure the district. Some in the East needed to come West and some in the West needed to go East.”
Kirkland makes note that pastors go where they are needed and take a vow to go wherever the bishop and the presiding elders send them.

In other words, in the news about Pastor John J. Hunter and his reassignment to Bethel AME after leaving Los Angeles' First AME church, he says 'no' and reiterates that "the A.M.E. is an itinerant, or traveling, ministry and pastors and such moves come with the territory. But others say such reassignments did not necessarily apply in large churches where there were no major problems," reports Our Weekly.
Asked whether the congregation had any involvement in the decision, Kirkland said: “The congregation is always involved. They don’t determine [who stays or goes]. They will have some input, but the bishop and presiding elders take all that into consideration, based on what’s in the best interest of the church and the community.”
Well, sounds like he's talking on two sides of his mouth when ultimately he's stating the church does not have control over who 'stays or goes', even if they can voice it. What an arrogant response to those who help build and keep that organization going in the name of Jesus!

Boy Scouts of America NOW Stand Against Child Sexual Abuse?

boy scouts of america perverted organization for decades

Boy Scouts of America NOW Stand Against Child Sexual Abuse?

This is outrageous and totally a 'Johnny come lately' move of action. News reports state The Boy Scouts of America is hosting an 'unprecedented closed-door symposium' with other national youth organizations, hoping to share strategies to combat sex abuse in the future. After all of the decades of sexual abuse in this organization and like Penn State, they darn well knew it and covered it, this is too little and too late!! News reports state the meeting on Thursday comes as the BSA's past policies on sex-abuse prevention fuel controversy.
The 10 participating groups include the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the YMCA and Girls Inc. They will hear presentations in Atlanta from some of the nation's top experts on child sex-abuse prevention. They also will discuss how uncorroborated information about potentially threatening adult volunteers might be shared among youth groups.
Again, this is preposterous!! We are so sick of organizations with their filthy intents to abuse children and ruin their lives forever because they think they can without punishment and remorse! While their 'perverted files' now reveal over 1200 possible suspects, the organization needs to be shut down NOW!!! Something has to be done!!

Crystal Cathedral's Founder Robert H. Schuller Sues the Church For Millions

The Rev. Robert H. Schuller founded Crystal Cathedral Ministries in 1955.
Crystal Cathedral's Founder Robert H. Schuller Sues the Church For Millions

There's a trial going on between the church Rev. Schuller once led, Crystal Cathedral and himself over property and money. The church claims the Schuller family paid themselves too richly. This should not be a shock since most megchurches always pay themselves very well. Besides, its usually their only income and many of them want to live like celebrities.

The 86 year old former pastor of Crystal Cathedral was present in a Los Angeles Bankruptcy Court this week hoping he will get a few million from the ministry.

Reports say this will be a 10 day trial in order to settle the monetary claims that were made during the 2010 bankruptcy of the ministry, which is the home of "Hour of Power," its trademark television show.

Pastor Danny Kirk in Dallas killing

Dallas Area Pastor Danny Kirk's Death Suspect Was Mentally Ill, Says Wife

Update on Nov. 1. 2012: The widow of the named suspect, Derrick Birdow said her husband was mentally ill. She stated he had never been diagnosed as mentally ill but was very sick a few days before the killing and did not get help for it. The suspect's wife Shanellia Harris Birdow said she is a member of the slain pastor's church and that her husband only attended a few times. She does not know why he would want to hurt him because he did not know the pastor.

We are praying for the family of the pastor and his congregation in the midst of this tragic incident. We will don't know why this happened but apparently the suspect may have been high on drugs the day he killed Pastor Danny Kirk.

Former Alabama Youth Minister Ordered to Pay $1 Million to Victim for Sexual Abuse

youth minister William David Webb ordered to pay $1 million in sex abuse case

Former Alabama Youth Minister Ordered to Pay $1 Million to Victim for Sexual Abuse

Report from Lawyers.com says:
William David Webb, was a youth minister and executive pastor at the Word of Life Christian Center, where his father, Scott Webb, served as senior pastor at the church. In 2009, he pled guilty for transporting a minor across state lines for purposes of sex. Webb is serving a five-year federal prison sentence.
Webb is now being ordered to pay $1 million to his victim. Now that's justice that we can count on.
Barbara Elizabeth Echols, who is now 24 and married and was once the victim of William David Webb. She filed a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting and sexually abusing her beginning when she was 15 years old.

Her legal claims included:
  • assault and battery of a sexual nature
  • trespass on her body wantonness
  • and seduction of an underage and unmarried woman.
Echols also sued the church, Word of Life Christian Center yet she settled her lawsuit our of court for a confidential amount.
Webb, 39, who once lived a lavish lifestyle as a church leader, testified from his prison cell in Arkansas and gave up his right to appear live at the trial.
“He testified that at age 30 he was living in a home that was listed on the market for $1 million,” said John Brunson of Massey, Stotser and Nichols, who represented Echols. In 2006, the church occupied a $14 million campus on 174 acres in northeastern Birmingham, Ala.
The jury awarded $1 million in compensatory and punitive damages to Echols, who said she was pleased with the verdict. Garrick Stotser, another attorney for Echols, said the jury sent a message to sexual predators.
We believe this verdict indicates that the courts will not tolerate abuse and misuse of a minor by people in a position of power,” he said.
