 Maryland Pastor Dr. Shine To Serve 27 Months for Hiding Millions in Bankruptcy Court

A Maryland minister known as Robert "Dr. Shine" Freeman was sentenced to more than two years (27 months) in prison Monday for obstructing bankruptcy court proceedings.

Robert "Dr. Shine" Freeman, 56, founded several ministries: Save the Seed Ministry, Save the Seed International Church and Seed Faith International Church. He was found trying to hide millions of dollars in assets when he filed for bankruptcy protection from creditors in 2005.

“The evidence shows that Robert J. Freeman lived a life of fraud and deception, using millions of dollars from church members and fraudulently obtained credit to pay for luxury cars and a mansion while falsely representing in court that he was indigent,” U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein said.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office:

Shortly after February 2001, Freeman used funds from church members to accumulate substantial assets, including 11 luxury cars valued at over $1,073,000 and a $1.75 million residence in Indian Head, Maryland, which he concealed from the bankruptcy court when he sought a discharge of his debts from the court in 2005.

From 2002 to 2006, Freeman had the following purchased under church members' names:

• two Lincoln Town cars
• two Mercedes Benz cars
• two Volkswagon Phaetons
• a Bentley Arnage vehicle
• A $1.75 million residence on the Potomac River to be purchased in the names of church members

The Maryland residence, located in  Indian Head, comprised about:

• 9,000 square feet, with a deep water pier
• a 20,000 pound covered boat lift
• a jet ski lift
• two four car garages
• five fireplaces
• a gym with steam room

Freeman also caused a Maybach vehicle to be leased in the name of a church member. By October 2005, Freeman and his then-spouse (Dee Dee Shine) owed over $1.3 million in debts, including:

• $846,000 in back rent
• more than $87,000 in lease payments on a jet airplane
• over $160,000 for payments on musical instruments
• and $220,000 in loan payments on a bus
• and much more in year 2006

Freeman did not fully disclose to bankruptcy court his real or personal property and the purchase of luxury vehicles purchased with church funds. 'Dr. Shine' also failed to report income from his ministry and, in a court proceeding, falsely said his ministry went out of business.

In addition to 27 months in prison followed by three years of supervised probation, Judge Roger Titus ordered Freeman pay restitution of $631,050.52.

We can thank President Obama for the efforts in part by his Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force (FFETF) which was created in November 2009 to wage an aggressive, coordinated and proactive effort to investigate and prosecute financial crimes.

Pastor C.L. Jackson Allegedly Eluded Judgement By Fraudulent Transfer of Property to Wife

A prominent black pastor fraudulently transferred his church-owned home to his wife to duck a $75,000 judgment, an accounting firm claims in court.

MacFarlane and Associates sued Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, its pastor C.L. Jackson and his wife, Bettie Jackson, in Harris County Court.

His church refused to pay for accounting services provided by plaintiff MacFarlane and Associates, P.C.

The accounting firm claims after more than a year of trying to collect from Pleasant Grove, it had no choice but to sue.

When the case went to trial this year, Pleasant Grove's attorneys claimed MacFarlane overbilled for its services, MacFarlane says.

Courthouse News reports:

MacFarlane says the court awarded it more than $75,000 in a judgment against the church. But it says church refused to pay, forcing the accountants to conduct post-judgment discovery.

     "As part of its post-judgment discovery, plaintiff MacFarlane uncovered that on January 11, 2012, immediately after the court announced that defendant Pleasant Grove would legally owe plaintiff MacFarlane an amount in excess of $75,000, Sheldon Jackson left the courtroom and called his father, Pastor Jackson to inform him of the impending judgment," the complaint states. "This call spurred Pastor Jackson into action.

     "Within days after the court pronounced its decision against defendant Pleasant Grove and before plaintiff MacFarlane could have its judgment signed by the court, defendants began a concerted effort to fraudulently block plaintiff MacFarlane's future collection efforts," the complaint states.

     "On January 20, 2010 defendants fraudulently transferred Pastor Jackson's home from church ownership to the sole ownership of defendant Bettie J. Jackson."

     MacFarlane seeks damages for fraudulent transfer and conspiracy.

Pastor Kong Hee's Church Leaders Now Charged in Misusing Church Funds Scandal

The Christian Post reports:

Kong Hee, pastor and founder of Singapore's City Harvest Church, attended court Wednesday for his second hearing in a trial in which he is being accused of misusing $18 million of church funds. Kong has also issued a statement, vowing to rigorously defend his integrity.
"I do maintain my integrity, and will rigorously defend that integrity against these charges," Kong, 47, said Wednesday, according to Singaporean newswire Today Online.
The pastor has been accused of "dishonestly misappropriating monies" from the church's building fund to promote and support the pop music career of Sun, who is in her early 40s. His charges also include three counts of "criminal breach of trust." Kong could face life in prison if found guilty on all three charges.

New charges on other members of ministry:

Kong's fellow ministry leaders Pastor Tan Ye Peng, John Lam, Chew Eng Han and Sharon Tanon have also been charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust.
Additionally, a sixth church executive, City Harvest Church's former finance chief Serina Wee, received 10 criminal charges Wednesday morning, including six for a criminal breach of trust and four for falsified records for allegedly helping to transfer funds to Kong's personal accounts.
After a two-year investigation, the Commercial Affairs Department, which investigates financial crime, found that Kong had allegedly been making "sham transactions" by allocating massive amounts of money to "purported bond investments," which were then being funneled into Sun's accounts.

A Pennsylvania man, now 29, sued the Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia on last Wednesday for alleged sexual abuse by a priest. This marks the 10th civil suit filed against the church since a 2011 grand jury report detailed sexual abuse by clergy in the area.

The suit names the Rev. John R. Liggio, the archdiocese and the Order of St. Augustine. It alleges a priest at suburban Malvern Preparatory School sexually abused a youth in 1997 and 1998. The student was under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged abuse. This lawsuit seeks more than $50,000 in damages.

"He did so by using physical, intellectual, moral, emotional and psychological force," according to the lawsuit filed in Philadelphia's Common Pleas Court.

A sweeping sex abuse scandal has rocked the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the nation's sixth largest with 1.5 million members.

"There are literally dozens of potential clients," said attorney, who worked with the Philadelphia District Attorney in writing an earlier grand jury report on the church in 2005.

"The frustrating part of this job is that so many are barred by the statute of limitations," she said.

Under Pennsylvania law, victims must file lawsuits before they reach the age of 30.

On Tuesday, Monsignor William Lynn, the highest-ranking clergyman convicted in the U.S. Roman Catholic Church scandal, was sentenced to up to six years in prison for covering up child sex abuse by priests in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia prosecutors said this week that they would hold a new trial for Reverend James Brennan on charges of attempted rape. (reuters)

Many members of a local church community were shocked by the child pornography charges filed against Ronald Brown from Largo, Florida. Brown was a puppeteer who volunteered there for years in the children's ministry.

Gulf Coast Pastor Randy Morris told the news station he was "obviously very shocked and sick to my stomach over the allegations. And disappointed."

He said Brown volunteered for at least 15 years, working with the puppet ministry and driving a van to pick up children for church. The pastor added from what he knows, Brown was never alone at the church with any child at any time.

Florida puppeteer Ronald Brown appeared in federal court Tuesday on charges of child pornography and conspiring to kidnap a child, CBS Tampa reports.

Brown, 57, was arrested Friday after an international investigation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security. A criminal complaint followed Brown's graphic online conversation with another man about kidnapping, sexually abusing, murdering and eating children, CBS Tampa reported.

A search warrant was issued on July 19 for Brown's residence. Homeland Security Investigators seized media including CDs, DVDs, thumb drives, micro disks and VHS tapes that contained several images of naked, bound and seemingly dead children.

Brown does not appear to have a criminal record, but he was stopped for a 1998 traffic violation in which an officer saw boys' underwear in the front seat, according to WUSA. He told the deputy he used the underwear for dressing his puppets.

He ought not mind her looking at his records, because they are supposed to be as one. According to our source, that is exactly what he had done, possibly never expecting to get found out. It seems as though had done this ahead of time, before his wife would become suspicious. In the same article, it was also posted she confronted him in front of the congregation about his alleged dirty secrets.

Thanks to our friends over at The Church Lady Blogs, we were finally able to see what Jericho City of Praise actually looks like inside, after the majority of the church members chose not to remain there.  This is a very sad snapshot of a very few people having church in a huge building at Jericho City of Praise.  We know the late Apostle Betty Peebles would have never thought this would be the end of her vision, but when demonic forces allegedly rule some whom are not true followers of Christ to honor the visionary, this is what occurs.  You see all of those empty seats? They were once full up into the time Pastor Joel Peebles was wrongfully removed from his position as the leader of God's House.  We listened to the recorded clip and could not even tell what sort of tongues the lady was speaking in, because they were having church in a sanctuary that is in the absence of a chosen Shepard, the son of the late visionary, Pastor Joel Peebles, including his wife, First Lady Ylawnda Peebles and all the original members of Jericho City of Praise.

There is a possibility the few people that are showing off as though they are having some good church at Jericho City of Praise could be there to receive a prestigious position.   Whatever the case, God must have watched this pitiful scene and shook His head.   God will allow this to only go on for so long, because souls need to be saved and not entering a place where there has been division.  God wants unity in His House before the pews are filled and possibly the only way it will happen again is if Pastor Joel Peebles returns as pastor, along with the rest of his followers.

I received this message today  from a source who attended  the Laity Ministry service of the CME Quadrennial Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia recently and was so appalled by Paula White’s antics that  she felt compelled to share  her experience with the CLB family.

I attended a Paula White service in Savannah on last week, and I was appalled and disgusted by what I saw and heard.  I want you to know that everything I’m offering you here is open for your use on your blog.

I was a hairline fracture away from contacting the mainstream media about Paula’s shenanigans, but I’m waiting to see how some other things play out before I take that route.

Everything I’ll share is firsthand information, not hearsay.  I’ll give you as much as I can via video, audio recordings, news media links and other info to help corroborate my data, and you’re free to use it however you choose.

I’m not out to try to bring Paula down, but I just think the black church desperately needs more discerning people to walk in boldness and refuse to continue falling into the trap of gullibility and desperation that keeps us enslaved to gold-digging “preachers.”  This code of silence is killing us and keeping us oppressed and I’m beyond sick of it!!!!!  God is not pleased with the religious debauchery running rampant in the 21st century church!!!

Here’s the deal:

1.  On July 17, 2012, Bishop Kenneth Wayne Carter (head honcho) and the leaders 6th Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church brought in Paula White to minister at its ‘Laity Ministry’ service at the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah, GA.

 You can also find this on Paula’s travel schedule.  Carter told his pastors and lay people that he didn’t want this to be just an event, but that he wanted them to “experience God.”  Mind you, her message was geared primarily to the pastors in attendance at this conference.

2.  The enormous irony in all of this is the juxtaposition of the early history of the CME Church against the modern day system it espouses.

The Pope's Butler Paolo Gabriele Released From Jail, On House Arrest Til Trial

Pope Benedict XVI's butler was released from a Vatican cell and placed under house arrest on Saturday as he awaits a ruling on whether he should stand trial for leaking confidential papers.

Paolo Gabriele "will reside at home with his family in the Vatican", he said.
Gabriele's lawyer meanwhile said his client believed his was "an act of love" for the pope and a bid to make the Catholic Church "more alive". He stressed that Gabriele had acted alone and not as a part of any Vatican "plot".

Lombardi also said a committee of cardinals that has questioned 28 lay people and clergy in the the "Vatileaks" scandal had submitted a report to the pope but did not give further details, adding only that Gabriele remains the sole suspect.

Gabriele, 46, was arrested on May 23 after an Italian investigative journalist published hundreds of secret documents that revealed a series of fraud scandals in the Vatican and an atmosphere of intrigue between rival groups of cardinals.

The Vatican said after his arrest it had found documents and copying equipment in Gabriele's home in an investigation that has shocked the close-knit community of the Holy See where Gabriele was seen as a trusted aide to an aging pope.

Gabriele, known as Paoletto, has worked for the pope since 2006 and was one of a select few with access to the pope's private chambers. He was often seen by Benedict's side on foreign visits, assisting him and riding in the "popemobile".

His home is within the Vatican walls and Gabriele will be allowed to leave his house only to attend mass, Lombardi said, adding that he would be able to receive "spiritual and medical assistance" while awaiting the judge's ruling.

He is accused of "aggravated theft" and faces up to six years in prison.

Good News: Monsignor William J. Lynn is the first U.S. Catholic official who has been convicted for covering up the sexual abuse of children. He was sentenced to 3-6 years in prison on Tuesday, July 24.
Lynn, 61, has been in a jail since his June 22 conviction on endangering the welfare of a child. Monsignor Lynn escaped what prosecutors were seeking, which was the maximum penalty of up to seven years.

“You knew full well what was right, Monsignor Lynn, but you chose wrong,” said Common Pleas Court Judge M. Teresa Sarmina.
Sarmina told Lynn that he enabled “monsters in clerical garb ... to destroy the souls of children, to whom you turned a hard heart.”

The Washington Post reported:

Lynn was head of priest personnel for a dozen years and was one of the highest-ranking officials in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Lynn was the first church official to be tried for what many see as an unaddressed crime in the decades-long tally of abuse throughout the church: No U.S. bishops or officials who covered up and enabled the abuse had previously been held accountable in criminal court.
He was charged with recommending that James J. Brennan and another former priest, Edward Avery, be allowed to live or work in parishes in the 1990s despite indications that they might abuse children. Avery later sexually assaulted a 10-year-old altar boy. He pleaded guilty before the trial and is serving up to five years in state prison.
Brennan was on trial along with Lynn but the jury could not reach verdicts on the attempted rape and endangerment charges against him; prosecutors said Monday that they plan to retry Brennan.

Judge Sarmina came down on Lynn for his actions once more:

The sentence, she said, “sends a powerful message: cover-up child sex crimes and you’ll go to jail. Not house arrest. Not community service. Not a fine. You’ll be locked up.”

More Good news: The WP also reported: Bishop Robert Finn of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph in Missouri, will be tried on charges that he failed to report suspicions that one of his priests might be an abuser. If Finn is convicted, he would be the first bishop ever found guilty in the abuse scandal.

“If Finn gets convicted, that is certainly going to send a message” to other church officials, said the Rev. Thomas J. Reese, a Jesuit priest and political scientist who is a fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University.

Below, is a letter AT2W received from someone who visited Without Walls International and you can read what they experienced this Sunday on July 8th:

My husband and I attended this church this morning July 8th, 2012. We had read some articles about some of the problems the church had faced but not the full extend and decided to go with an open mind.

First I anticipated Paula White to be the one who spoke but it is of course her ex-husband Randy. The church is nasty and needing repairs. The carpets were filthy the paint was peeling. Yet the pastor was in a very nice expensive suit and took 3 different offerings. One for tithes, and 2 different offerings. Begging the congregation that looked to be common working class African American for more and more money. He spoke and showed video of a man who gave 10,000 dollars to the church in the past but had no idea where it would come from and since doing so told how much God had blessed them. Randy encouraged other people to be like that man and to give. The last and final offering was to turn the lights on at the Lakeland church because they were in debt to the electric company of excess of 20,000!

He spoke of how people often get caught up in the ways of the world like drinking and partying yet never mentioned his own DUI. Also he invited all the men to his very large house with pool, hot tub, pool table (this is his words not mine) for a BBQ, yet they can't turn the lights on at their Lakeland location? This service left a sicking feeling with my husband and I. When I got home I began to read more and more about what kind of people Randy and Paula White are.

Please continue to cover this churches misconduct. These people are scam artist and do not deserve to be preaching the word of God. I believe everyone deserves a second chance but how many chances does it take to show someones true nature?

Thank you for showing your readers the truth and I hope others take notice and stay away!

If you read AT2W's article: Has Pastor Randy White Been Caught Playing the Prosperity Gospel Game of Lies?, you'd see that Randy White has told yet another black lie, as Karen Pansler-Lam calls it in her article at the Liberty Advocate "Randy White's Black Lie". He told The Ledger that "he is selling his house and has drained his retirement funds to help support Without Walls International." 

So, we agree with the person who wrote us the letter: How can he invite people to his big home for a huge party when he claimed he is selling his house and is broke? On top of this, it appears WWIC is in need of repairs as well and the Lakeland property may not be the only location that has been neglected. Surprised?

To the congregation that follows Randy White: please be aware of what is staring you in the face. You are not receiving the truth. Yet, you are being fed lies and deception- all in the name of you emptying your pocket books. It should be clear and the nose on our faces by now!

West Virgina Bishop Investigated for Sexual Abuse to Young Teen in 1970's

Reuters reports:

Authorities have re-opened a 2007 fondling complaint against a priest who taught at a suburban Philadelphia high school and is now the Roman Catholic bishop of West Virginia.

The complaint stems from Bishop Michael Bransfield's days at Lansdale Catholic High School in the 1970s. The Philadelphia Archdiocese said it did not find the complaint credible at the time, and passed it on to Montgomery County authorities.

But the archdiocese said last week that the complaint has been reopened.

"The Archdiocese of Philadelphia promptly reported the allegation against Bishop Bransfield to the Montgomery County D.A.'s office in 2007. ... The situation is again being reviewed by law enforcement authorities," spokesman Kenneth Gavin said in an email.

The development comes with the recently completed Philadelphia priest-abuse trial in which a witness testified that a priest who abused him told him that Bransfield was sexually involved with a young teen. The witness also said he was raped by the priest at Bransfield's beach house.

Bransfield, who has led the West Virginia diocese since 2005, says he wasn't home at the time, and denies ever abusing anyone.

The trial ended with Monsignor William Lynn convicted of endangering children as secretary of clergy, and the jury deadlocked on sex abuse charges against the Rev. James Brennan.

Pastor Bridgett Barnes has been arrested for trying to burn down her own house.  Now, she is known in Baton Rouge as the pastor of Ministry of Love Church.   She is well-known in the community and also seen on You Tube, speaking on subjects like 'Holiness', 'Testing the Heart' and 'Spirit, Flesh and Holiness.'  This pastor and her sister, Lucille Brown were both accused of arson.   It seems as though the demons are starting to show up, since this country has been in a recession and they are showing we have alleged criminals preaching out of God's Word in many pulpits.   This reminds us of previous cases that revealed some pastors arrested for theft.  

It does not make sense for this pastor to do something like this, with all of the homeless and poor people in this country who cannot even afford to buy a nice home.  Just look at that beautiful home burning up. Just looking at the above photo makes us realize how many ordained ministers are on their way to hell and it will burn much worse than that home.   Too many pastors are not properly representing God's Kingdom and their greedy spirits are being shown to us, since many of their church members have not been able to give much tithes and and offerings during this recession.   Why would Pastor Steib and her sister do something like this?   This could be very similar to people whom purposely crash their cars for insurance money, which is usually what slick sinners do.  Therefore, ministers of God's Word are supposed to be saved and practice what they preach, unlike Bridgett Steib on this following video clip, preaching about holiness.    How can she have the nerve to preach about holiness, if she an alleged cunning person to burn her home down?

Pastor Toris Young Sentenced to 10 Years For Stealing $1 Million in Hurricane Katrina Loans

A former New Orleans pastor was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in federal prison for stealing nearly $1 million in disaster loan payments meant to rebuild his church after Hurricane Katrina.

Toris Young, 41, apologized for his "mistakes" and "bad choices" before U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier handed down a sentence that was roughly twice that recommended under federal sentencing guidelines.

"Today I come sorrowful. I come regretful. I come with my heart poured out, asking this court to please have mercy," said Young, who made headlines in recent years for leading a failed effort to recall a Louisiana congressman and for planning an anti-crime campaign with a rapper awaiting a murder trial.

His plea didn't sway Barbier, who said he had considered imposing an even longer sentence. Young had faced a maximum of 30 years in prison.

"You really stole from your own church, from your own parishioners," the judge said. "There's no church now, so they're really your victims, too, along with the federal government."

Barbier also ordered Young to pay $963,900 in restitution to the Small Business Administration.

Young, who pleaded guilty in January to theft of government funds and mail fraud, submitted fraudulent invoices and receipts to the SBA after the 2005 storm to obtain the loan for the Bible Way Baptist Church. Instead of using the money to repair damage from the 2005 hurricane, Young spent the money on jewelry, vehicles, real estate, designer clothes and other personal expenses.

The church property was vacant with overgrown weeds when the SBA checked in 2009 to see how he spent the money. The lot is still vacant to this day, with nothing to indicate a church once stood there.




Bishop Joseph Walker, a Harvey pastor who has known Young since he was a child, told Barbier that Young helped organize relief efforts in the community after Katrina. Walker said he was surprised when he learned Young had "tripped and fell."

Bishop Walker's comment about Pastor Young 'tripped and fell' hardly equates to the damage he has done. Why do pastors like Creflo Dollar for Bishop Eddie Long, justify another person's actions? By trying to minimize what he has done makes the crime seem obsolete and that is a crime in itself!

Bishop Walker says:

"We know that God will forgive him, but we are here today to ask for grace and mercy and leniency," Walker said. "He has done so much good in our community."

Many corrupted pastors and leaders in the church do good things for people. They have to keep a good image, you think? On top of this, Young has other criminal business to tend to even before he serves time for the current charges. Read below:

Young won't start serving the 10-year prison sentence until after he completes two other federal prison sentences stemming from unrelated fraud convictions in New Orleans and Mississippi. He was scheduled to be released from prison in September 2013 before Barbier imposed the 10-year term.

Young said prison has helped him turn his life around after "hitting rock bottom." "Today I can say that I am a new man and a new preacher. And I will never look back," he said.

We say: Spend some real time in prison and repent before saying you are vindicated already, sir.

Barbier said Young has at least nine sets of previous convictions dating back to 1990 on charges that include forgery, identity theft and issuing worthless checks.

A pastor was convicted this week of sexually assaulting five young boys who were parishioners in his Lake Forest apartment.

Bishop Oscar D. Perez Perez, of Lake Forest, was found guilty of:

• 22 felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14
• four felony counts of lewd acts on a child
• sentencing enhancement allegations for lewd acts against multiple victims

Bishop Perez, 69, faces a maximum sentence of 330 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration when he is sentenced.

In detail, the OC Weekly wanted to make some clarifications about the victims, the crime and where they occurred.

The Bishop will face 60 years in prison for the crimes he committed. Clarification has been made that the bishop met the victims though his Iglesia Antigua Católica congregation and not St. George's Parish of Laguna Hills.

Warning: The following will be in detail according to the lewd acts on the children.

The 68-year-old is accused of having two 11-year-old boys sleep over in his apartment, where it is alleged in July he French kissed and rubbed the penis of one youth, and on multiple occasions since 2008 the pastor rubbed the penis and buttocks and sodomized the second boy.

According to KTLA, the sexual assault against the victims varied, and included sodomy, oral copulation, sexual penetration, touching of the victim’s penis and/or buttocks, kissing, and hugging.

Perez was conducting masses at St. George's. He met a boy under 12 and his family who belonged to the congregation. The bishop is accused of asking the boy's parents if the child could help him with chores around Perez's house. The boy told his mother of the lewd acts that are said to have occurred in August of last year.

Sentencing is set for September 14.

Today, Report COGIC Abuse confirmed that the St James Holiness COGIC in Toledo, OH, now has the dubious distinction of having had 5 sexual offenders in its ministry ranks. St. James Church is also known as “The Armory” [website here]. The church is a part of the Ohio North Jurisdiction where Bishop Edward Cook presides. (We've said it before: who would let a man that looks like this in their church as an employee?)

According to law enforcement officials at the Lucas County (OH) Jail,  Eddie Jordan, a Sunday School teacher at the church, is incarcerated and awaiting trial on 3 counts of kidnapping and 2 counts of attempted rape.
In November 2009, RCA broke the heinous story of this same church who had harbored 4 other convicted pedophiles in leadership positions.

According to the report, since the church had four convicted pedophiles operating in its ministry, with the knowledge of it's pastor, he never  made the men leave the church before the authorities were involved. Apparently the predatory activities were ongoing even as some of these men operated as leaders in the church. Let's be clear: these men committed their crimes while members/employees of the church and the pastor allegedly sent letters in prison in support of these men. These are the four men who were on the payroll at St James: James Jones, an organist; Arthur Bishop, a saxophonist;Bryan Watkins, a minister; and Nathan Fullove, an organist.

We have to continue to pray for the COGIC church and any other church that operates in such disregard to their members and God himself. It would not be an issue if these men were ex-cons and on the up and up to restoration. Unfortunately, some of them were not and just take a look at what harm they have caused.

For centuries, the Vatican has been ruled by a code of secrecy and honor like the Mafia, until the recent six months have turned it upside down.

There were some highly confidential letters written to the pope and his close associates. These letters were originally written in code and later put into a book, Sua Santità by Gianluigi Nuzzi that offered translation for its readers. The bestseller leaked a string of scandals that took the Vatican for a ride this year. Here are a few of them:

• In early June, the head of the Vatican bank was ousted for possessing documents showing the Church circumventing European money-laundering regulations.
• The most damaging of the leaks is another powerful figure in the Vatican besides the pope: the 77-year-old secretary of state Tarcisio Bertone. These leaks have blamed the pope’s butler—who may end up going to jail for years.
• In 2006, Marcial Maciel, the Mexican founder of the highly conservative order, the Legionaries of Christ. After decades of being honored and held in high esteem, Maciel was exposed as a rapist, a pedophile, and a drug addict who had had families by two different women, and who abused his own children.

The anonymous author named 'Maria' of the leaks spoke about what they could no longer keep secret as they put aside notes to write this book years ago:

“After the death of Karol Wojtyla”—John Paul II’s baptismal name—“I started to put aside copies of certain documents of which I came into possession through my professional activities,”

“In the first years I did it sporadically,” Maria went on. “When I saw that the truth which was published in the newspapers and in official discourse did not correspond to the truth in these papers, I put them all to one side to try to go deeper and to understand.

“In recent years the situation has worsened, hypocrisy reigns unchallenged. The scandals multiply ... In some moments in one’s life, either you are a man or you aren’t. The difference? Just the courage to say or do what you consider just. My courage was to make known the most agonizing events within the Church. To make public certain secrets, stories small and large which never get beyond those bronze gates.”

One courageous bishop went to work to try and understand the Vatican's finances which resulted in scandal and waste. Through the leaked letters, this bishop Carlo Maria Viganò told the pope he was astonished by what he found in the Vatican’s accounts.

He went to work slashing grossly inflated budgets—for example, reducing the cost of the Vatican’s lifesize nativity scene in the center of St. Peter’s Square from $700,000 to $400,000; and saving more than $1 million in the maintenance of the gardens, which he funneled into renovating the pope’s central heating system. In all, Viganò claimed to have converted a deficit of some $10 million into a surplus of $43.5 million. But in the process, he made powerful enemies, and on March 22, 2011, Bertone curtly told Viganò that he was fired.

Cardinal Bernard Law of Boston, who appalled millions of American Catholics with his long cover-up of priestly pedophilia, was allowed to preside over Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the most important basilicas in Rome. The Church also lost donations after the pedophilia scandal was exposed. Between 2009 and 2010, donations deceased 20% from $82.5 million to 67 million. The Vatican experiences its first deficit in years in 2011 when they lost $19 million dollars.

A Los Angeles pastor was arrested on Friday for allegedly engaging in a two-year sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Gordon Solomon, pastor at Christ's Community Church of LA in Inglewood, California is being accused of having a sexual relationship with the young girl when she was 12 years old.

According to the LA Times, the last sermon given by Pastor Solomon included for congregants to pray for his family as they go through some troubling times. Church members had no idea their pastor had been investigated on the charges of sexually abusing a teenage churchgoer.



Gordon, 50, allegedly "developed an ongoing affinity" for the girl, where it involved exchanging emails and texts of a "sexual nature". The two have reportedly met at various locations, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. The 14 year old young girl's mother discovered one of the text messages from Solomon and immediately called the police. Investigators then determined that the relationship had been going on for two years when they traced back the sexting messages on the girl's phone. Authorities say the relationship was ongoing from June 2010 up until last Sunday. Pastor Gordon Solomon's bail is set at $3 million and he could be faced with over 26 years in prison if convicted. Solomon pleaded not guilty at the arraignment. A preliminary hearing, was set for July 25. He's been charged with:

• seven counts of committing a lewd act on a child
• one count of continuous sexual abuse
• and one count of oral copulation of a person under the age of 14

Christ's Community Church on Hindry Avenue was founded in 1994 and has a congregation of 200church members, according to the church's website. In the community, the church was known for its twice-a-week food pantry, where Solomon and other members passed out fresh produce, canned goods and bread to those in need. According to the church website, they gave out more than $1 million in food and other items to families in the community. Unfortunately on Friday morning, several senior citizens arrived at the Inglewood church for the food giveaway, but were disappointed to read a "No food giveaway" sign posted on the gate due to the recent turmoil involving the pastor. Solomon is married to his wife Ruth and has an adult daughter. He and his wife are both seen posing together on their church website. The Sherriff's department believe there may be other victims. Medford churchgoer Dave Schmidt, 66, a convicted sex offender, says prayer helps him stay focused on God. But Set Free Christian Fellowship’s insurance company has threatened to pull its coverage if strict requirements on Schmidt’s attendance aren'’t met, requirements the church argues will only encourage sex offenders to go underground. 

Pastor Chad McComas of Set Free Christian Fellowship in Medford tells Mail Tribune (http://bit.ly/Kwrbs3) the church disclosed that known sex offenders were in the congregation. He says the church received a letter from Church Mutual insurance company demanding that the church disclose the identity of all sex offenders.

 

The insurance company also says the church must limit offenders to one predetermined service each week and assign them an escort.

 

McComas says the church is careful but that the requirements lump all offenders together and will encourage abusers to go underground.

 

Church Mutual vice president of marketing Patrick Moreland says the rules are designed to protect churches and potential victims.

A federal appeals court has upheld the tax fraud convictions of Anthony and Harriet Jinwright, the husband-wife team who once co-pastored Greater Salem Church in West Charlotte.

The Jinwrights were convicted in May 2010 for failing to report nearly $2.5 million in taxable income between 2001 and 2007. Anthony Jinwright was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison; Harriet Jinwright received six years and eight months.

Government prosecutors presented evidence that the Jinwrights were told multiple times by various sources that all money received from the church should be claimed as income on their tax returns.

“To allow the most clever, inventive, and sophisticated wrongdoers to hide behind a constant and conscious purpose of avoiding knowledge of criminal misconduct would be an injustice in its own right,” the appeals court wrote.

According to an IRS agent who testified during the Jinwrights’ trial, Greater Salem paid Anthony Jinwright nearly $3.9 million between 2001 and 2007. It paid Harriet Jinwright nearly $1 million during those same years. The couple also earned tens of thousands of dollars from speaking at other churches.

Witnesses testified that Greater Salem spent lavishly to support the Jinwrights, paying for costs such as luxury cars, vacations and college tuition for the couple’s daughter. The church eventually sought bankruptcy protection to avoid a foreclosure sale after defaulting on a $5 million loan.

TBN Accused of Deliberately Covering Up The Rape of Their Granddaughter To Protect the Network

A granddaughter of Trinity Broadcasting Network founders Jan and Paul Crouch filed a lawsuit Monday alleging that she was plied with alcohol and raped by a TBN employee when she was just 13 — and that her family covered up the incident, rather than report it to authorities, to protect TBN’s reputation.

Carra Crouch, now 19, was distraught after the 2006 assault by a 30-year-old man, and told her grandmother what had happened. “Jan (Crouch) became furious and began screaming at Ms. Crouch, a thirteen year old girl, and began telling her ‘it is your fault,’” according to the suit.

Carra Crouch then told John Casoria, TBN’s in-house counsel and her second cousin; he became agitated and told her that he didn’t believe her, it says. “He elaborated by stating he further believed she was already sexually active ‘so it did not really matter’ and he ‘believed she may have propositioned him,’ ” the suit alleges.

“Ms. Crouch, a thirteen year old girl, had not been sexually active and was absolutely devastated about what happened and about how John and Jan responded to her.”

Bishop Randy White has returned to Without Walls International Church. White will serve as the overseer for the Tampa, Fla., and Lakeland, Fla., campuses of the church he started with his ex-wife, Paula, in 1990.

“I am so thrilled to be back at Without Walls International Church,” White wrote in an email newsletter to the congregation. “God has done a wonderful work in my life. He is the God of Restoration!!”

White resigned from Without Walls and handed the church over to Paula White in June 2009, citing ongoing health issues. Paula recently accepted the senior pastor position at New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Fla., which was founded by the late Zachery Tims and his then-wife Riva.

In what both sides described as a momentous ruling, a jury in Oakland, Calif., has found that Jehovah’s Witnesses was partly responsible for the alleged sexual abuse of a girl by one of its members and must pay her more than $20 million.

The Alameda County Superior Court jury on Thursday awarded $21 million in punitive damages to the plaintiff, who is now 26 years old. That was on top of the $7 million in compensatory damages it awarded her on Wednesday.

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ legal entity, is responsible for the entire punitive damages amount and 40 percent of the compensatory damages, said Rick Simons, attorney for the plaintiff. Sixty percent of the compensatory damages was assessed against Jonathan Kendrick, the man accused of abusing her.

Candace Conti sued Watchtower, the Fremont, Calif., congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and Kendrick in 2011. It’s msnbc.com’s policy not to identify victims of sexual abuse, but Conti agreed to be identified so that any other victims would feel they could come forward too.
