Convicted S. Florida Pastor James Harris Convicted of Molestation on Teen Boy, Gets 30 Years

Rev. James Harris charged and convicted of sexual crimes against teen boy, gets 30 years

Convicted S. Florida Pastor James Harris Convicted of Molestation on Teen Boy, Gets 30 Years

The 65-year-old South Florida minister Rev. James Harris has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for molesting a teenage boy. On Friday's sentencing hearing, prosecutors wanted the defendant to serve the maximum 80-year term for the Rev. James Harris, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. Harris' attorney requested a 16-year minimum. Rev. Harris received 30 years in prison which will keep him in prison for the rest of his life. He's been charged and convicted on six felony sex crimes including:
  • lewd or lascivious battery
  • unlawful sexual activity with a minor
  • lewd or lascivious conduct
  • two counts of promoting sexual performance by a child
  • and showing obscene material to a minor

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, charged that Harris lured him into sex when the minister was a community leader in Belle Glade. Belle Glade is an impoverished farming community in the Everglade where he grew up there, went to college and then returned as a minister.
The Sun Sentinel reported:
During the trial in August, the victim testified that Harris performed sex acts on him on two occasions, and took videos. The jury watched two videos: one showed the boy masturbating under Harris' direction as a porn movie played in the background; the other showed the boy having sex with his girlfriend, 14, who did not initially realize Harris was recording them.
"He was a reverend, a politician and a supporter of teenage boys having the dream to play professional football," Assistant State Attorney Chrichet B. Mixon wrote in a sentencing memorandum. "However, Harris' most suitable title is that of a master manipulator."

Mixon said Harris told his victim he had contacts that would be useful in his pursuit of a football career in the National Football League.

Forgiving the Catholic Church: New Book Inspires All Who Read It

Forgiving the Catholic Church -- One Sex Abuse Victim's True Story of Healing through Forgiveness

This book will help heal the wounds of many victims of not only sexual abuse from the Catholic church but from all denominations. The church body as a whole needs to take accountability for its wrongdoings and stop covering up for the leaders in the church. We are praying this book does some justice for many people who have experience sexual abuse by a church leader. We thank the author Bill Christman for sharing his story which will probably tell the story of many others.

Press release by Christian Newswire:
ROCK ISLAND, Ill./ENUMCLAW, Wash., Oct. 3, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- As a young child, Bill Christman experienced the ultimate betrayal. Sexually abused by a Catholic priest, Bill's life was set down a path of fear, rage, violence, drug abuse and alcoholism to mask the pain.
For Bill, the trauma of his priest's perverse pleasures had taunted, and then ruined his childhood innocence. Playful boyhood pranks spiraled into patterns of anger, fits of rage, and lawless violence. Alcohol and drugs played their part, pushed him into homelessness, and finally brought him to his knees. Desperate, Bill cried out to God for an answer.
Through AA he stopped drinking, but inner misery cloaked him like an angry shroud. How could he find the peace he craved? A fellow AA member -- ironically, a priest -- soon became his emotional and spiritual mentor.
Wanting only an apology, and encouraged to go through proper channels within his Diocese, Bill was forced to engage a lawyer. A series of tense, intimidating and seemingly fruitless meetings dragged on but through the support of godly Catholic priests, Bill did the unthinkable: he faced his abuser, released the burden of hate, and received the gift of forgiveness. A visit to the Vatican with his mentor leads to Bill receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and a touch from God.
Through it all, this book shines a beacon of hope and encouragement not only for other victims of similar abuse but those faithful Catholics who have had their faith tested by this worldwide scandal. Bill's prayer is that this book will encourage all who have suffered find their own path to healing.

'Sex-Probation Priest' Father Jose Alexis Davila Has Vanished

'Sex-Probation Priest' Father Jose Alexis Davila Has Vanished

The Diocese of San Diego has no comment about the priest they supported though he was put on probation for sexual abusing a woman last year on New Year's Eve.

Fr. Jose Alexis Davila, the associate pastor of St. Jude Shrine of the West, went to a young woman’s Southcrest home and forced himself on her. She called the police and he was arrested.

Of course, parishioners and the priest’s friends rallied on behalf of the priest. In an ungodly attempt to get the victim to recant her story, parishioners supporting the priest formed a “lynch mob” at the victim’s mother’s home. Fortunately, it didn’t work.

In April, Davila pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of “unlawful touching of an intimate part” and was sentenced to probation.

Reports state in May, which was less than one month after his guilty plea, a reporter received an anonymous call from a parishioner at St. Jude Shrine of the West. The caller was disgusted that Davila was back on the job and working with women and children.

The Diocese was asked why the priest was put back in the parish and here's what Bishop Robert Brom stated in response:
The Diocese of San Diego and Father Alexis Davila have fully cooperated with law enforcement and all legitimate and pastoral concerns have been addressed as regards his case.
Consequently, we have no reason to believe that women or children are at risk because of his return to ministry. He returned to St. Jude at the beginning of May.
The diocese has the gall to have a 'never mind' attitude about this man who has been charged with a sexual crime. They have taken upon themselves to let him back in. Wow!

Now, Father Davila has vanished and the Diocese has made no announcement about his absence. No one knows where he is and what harm he may be causing, if any, to another victim. Some say the diocese has 'dumped' him somewhere out of sight.
Report says:
The only clues we have are in Davila’s self-congratulatory YouTube Channel, where he paints himself as a rock star and posts videos of himself with men like Salt Lake City Bishop Charles Wester, Pope John Paul II and lots of young women. He also claims to have been scuttled out of his country by “security personnel” in 2002.
These church people will soon learn that hiding behind the church and excusing their guilty clergy will get them in bad graces with God. He's the only one that matters and trying to uphold their image will do no good on judgment day.

Former Philly Pastor Stands Accused of Murdering His 1st and 2nd Wife

Former pastor Arthur "A.B." Schirmer

Former Philly Pastor Stands Accused of Murdering His 1st and 2nd Wife

This former pastor has fooled many people in his congregation. While he led a church for several years, he is now being charged with two murders of both his 1st and 2nd wife. We are happy this man is being brought to justice for crimes he could have gotten away with. Thank God for accountability.

Former Pennsylvania pastor Arthur "A.B." Schirmer was considered a "serial philanderer, preying on women in his church" who were having trouble in their own marriages. Court documents say he's also a killer.

While Schirmer was charged two years ago in the death of his second wife, he now stands accused of killing his first wife too. A grand jury concluded her injuries weren't consistent with a fall down the stairs as reported that the time of her death. The ex-pastor intends to plead innocent, and his children say they support him.
The report says:
Schirmer, 64, has long claimed he was out for a run on April 23, 1999, when he returned home to find Jewel Schirmer's body in a pool of blood at the bottom of the basement steps. Although she had suffered a fractured skull as well as injuries to her face, body, arms and legs, the coroner made no determination as to whether her death was an accident or a homicide, and the case was closed.
The victim's brother has never been convinced that his sister died the way it was told back then.
Jonathan Behney told police two days after his sister's death that "it was his opinion that her head was smashed in by someone," a police affidavit said. "He added that Arthur had been cheating on his sister for some time and has had several extramarital affairs with other women."

Police and prosecutors decided to take another look at Jewel Schirmer's death after her husband of 31 years came under investigation in the 2008 death of his second wife, Betty Jean, in the Pocono Mountains. Prosecutors in that case say Schirmer killed Betty Jean Schirmer, then staged a car accident to cover it up. He faces trial in January.

pastor Arthur "A.B." Schirmer killed both wives

Investigators hired a biomechanical engineering firm to recreate Jewel Schirmer's supposed fall down the stairs. The firm used a test dummy fitted with various instruments to collect data on the forces to which her tumbling body would have been subjected.
"We found the 'crash dummy' evidence to be particularly compelling, as it indicated to us that Jewel could not have suffered all of her injuries by accidentally falling down a flight of stairs," the grand jury wrote.
The grand jury cited medical testimony that revealed Schirmer likely used blunt objects to kill both his wives.
"We find it particularly disturbing and difficult to believe that both of A.B. Schirmer's wives could have suffered such horrific injuries by accident. To the contrary, we believe probable cause exists to believe that neither woman died from an accident," the report said.
One of Schirmer's former church members, Kathy Siegrist, said she felt betrayed by the pastor who'd led her spiritual life for 20 years, so much so that she no longer attends a church.
Siegrist — who called herself Jewel Schirmer's best friend — said she had always considered A.B. Schirmer, who led Bethany United Methodist Church in Lebanon, to be gentle and kind. But there were hints of a darker side, flashes of anger that Siegrist said she never saw but that her then-husband used to talk about.

"The moment this happened, he told me he thinks A.B. killed her," Siegrist said.

Shouwang Church Persecuted by Government For Belief In Jesus Christ

Chinese church persecuted for worshiping Jesus

Shouwang Church Persecuted by Government For Belief In Jesus Christ

We admire these congregants and their pastor for standing up for the one and only God, Jesus Christ. Even in a communist society, they refuse to give into the norm in their country. Read the report below and see just how strong their faith is. Hopefully, Americans can take heed to the love they have for Jesus Christ!

Report from Baptist Press:
The first time the government had them evicted from their rented building, they worshiped outside in a blizzard. When the police started arresting them at their outdoor services, they came back faithfully each Sunday. When their leadership was placed under house arrest and some of them were pressured to quit their jobs, they endured.
They are Shouwang Church in Beijing, a congregation that has refused official registration. For years they have absorbed the abuses of a government opposed to their belief in Jesus Christ as head of the church. Shouwang now has ventured into legal efforts to secure a regular place of worship.

"The Chinese Communist Party is always afraid of any form of organization independent from the control of the central government," said Mark Shan, news analyst for ChinaAid, a group that monitors religious freedom and has chronicled Shouwang Church's struggles.

In China, only churches registered as part of the official Three-Self Patriotic Movement are considered legal. But registration brings government restrictions on evangelism, Sunday School, baptizing teens and children and other activities. In addition, ChinaAid's founder and president, Bob Fu, says government-appointed leaders, many of whom are Communist Party members, are at the helm of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement.

Shouwang Church's refusal to place itself under the yoke of government regulators has earned it and its roughly 1,000 members consistent harassment from authorities. In November 2009, according to the church, the government had the church evicted from its rented building, forcing members to worship outside twice before they received "tacit" consent to return indoors. But authorities continued to thwart efforts by the church to rent or buy a meeting place, so beginning on April 10, 2011, Shouwang decided to return to outdoor worship until they received official permission to meet indoors.
