SF Bay Area Minister Left at Scene After Hit and Run Culprit Leaves the Scene
This is a shame that a woman would cause a hit and run accident against a blind man and his guide dog. We pray they find this lady and that she gets the punishment she deserves in this case.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to call East Palo Alto police at (650) 321-1112 or send an anonymous email to epa@tipnow.org. Anonymous texts and voicemails can be sent to (650) 409-6792.The Rev. Albert Macklin of the New Sweet Home Church of God in Christ was walking on Myrtle Street near Sparrow Court around 8:05 p.m. when a car hit him and his dog guide dog Eaton. The driver had backed into him while he was still in the middle of the intersection, hitting his left side, and pinning Eaton under the trunk of the vehicle.Afterward, police said the driver stopped and asked the minister if he was OK and said she was going to move her car, but drove away from the scene instead."I was waiting for her maybe thinking she would come toward me, maybe check me out and see if I was ok. But after she got in the car to move the car, she didn't come back at all," said Macklin.Macklin said the driver was female based on her voice, but that he did not have other information about the car or what she looked like.He said she did not give him a chance to tell her if he or his dog were injured in the collision before driving away.He hopes to identify the person who jeopardized his safety."I just thought the woman would have stopped. I just really expected the woman to stop," said Macklin.East Palo Alto Police were looking for witnesses Tuesday by going door to door in the hope that someone in the neighborhood saw something. Both the Police and Macklin were determined Tuesday to track the driver down.
