Pastor Grant Storms Charged with One Count of Obscenity for Sex Act in Park
The Rev. Grant Storms, of Metairie, waived a jury trial and the case was heard by state District Judge Ross LaDart, who on Wednesday found Storms guilty of the single count of obscenity against him. He then sentenced Storms to three years of probation, citing no evidence of a criminal history.
The pastor confessed that the sex act was a "thrill" and a "fantasy." During his confession, Rev. Storms told police he was cutting some grass in the park when he took a break to drink a beer and became "horny," the newspaper reported.
Here's how the questioning went to find out why the pastor was doing this in the park:
"Why do you go to the park and do this, as far as masturbating,” Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Sgt. Kevin Balser asked Storms during the interview, according to the Times-Picayune.Following his arrest in February, he admitted he watched pornography that day and to put his hands in his pants.
"I don't know," Storms said. "I guess a thrill."
"So it's a thrill-slash-fantasy for you?" Balser said.
"Yes," Storms said.
"I apologize deeply for my inappropriate, sinful actions." he said tearfully. He also stated he felt disoriented and confused.
Storms was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to receive psychological treatment.
